My creative practice is rooted in collaboration with the wild in the world. Co-creating. My hands, flora and foliage, earthen materials. The process begins with something fragile and ephemeral, and transforms it into something lasting and tactile, while allowing its fragility to remain visible.

This is what draws me to the work: the preservation of a moment that will not last.  It is not a wish to freeze it or to capture it, but to hold it, recording the life of the bloom while honouring its impermanence. My creative practice is a material-led exploration of time, change, and the beauty of natural forms.

I'm Paula, a botanical artist based in the North East of England.

I work with real botanicals, which are either ethically and locally foraged, gathered from my own garden, or purposefully cultivated at my allotment. I cast them into materials such as plaster, terracotta, and concrete to create bas-relief wall panels. Every piece begins with something that grew, and no two are the same. Botanical detail meets soft, sculptural stillness.

I undertake commissions for people at significant moments in their lives, wedding flowers preserved, other significant celebrations, or memorial pieces for those they've lost. I sell original work, and I run workshops where you can try botanical casting yourself.

My occasional workshops are a space to step away from the noise, work with your hands, and discover what happens when you slow down and let yourself create. There’s something deeply restorative about working with natural materials. The textures, the scents, the quiet focus. People arrive unsure of what they can do, and leave surprised by what they’ve made.

Everything is provided. You’ll work with real botanicals to create your own piece of art to take home at the end of the session. I offer a range of workshops, including botanical casting, wreath-making, and other botanical-themed sessions.

Most workshops take place at my studio in Newcastle upon Tyne. I also offer bespoke sessions for private groups and corporate bookings at your own venue in the Newcastle area.

The best way to find out when workshops are scheduled is to follow my social media or sign up for my mailing list .

Commission me to create a custom piece for you.

You can have a single bloom, multiple stems, or whole bouquets cast in plaster, terracotta, or concrete in an assortment of sizes from a small 10 × 10 cm to a large 50 × 70 cm.

Wedding flowers, funeral flowers, flowers from a birthday or from a special time or place.

And it doesn’t have to be flowers. Textured foliage can make wonderful cast impressions. As can herbs, making a lovely gift for a foodie!

Memorial panels can be created using the birth flower of the person you want to remember. Ashes can be incorporated into the panel. This service is also available for pets.

Find out more about the commission process here.

Fill out the form telling me about what you want to commission and I can guide you through the process.

  • Botanical art cast from nature.

I have a range of ready-made pieces in various sizes available to purchase.

These are all one-of-a-kind pieces. Even if I use the same type of flower for more than one panel (for example, my dandelion collection), each tile will be unique, as each botanical is unique.

The panels can be displayed on a shelf or hung on a wall. Please note the panels come into their own with a right-angle light source which deepens the shadows of the piece, thereby enhancing its bas-relief appearance.

My offerings change constantly as, once a piece sells, it can never be repeated.
