A botanical bas-relief panel, hand-cast in plaster from lily of the valley gathered in my own garden.
Ammi is a very difficult plant to cast, the flowerhead being an umbellifer, which is an umbrella shape and is actually made up of many small flowers known as umbels. The plant itself does not remain in the finished piece. What remains is the impression it left.
Each piece is cast by hand and is one of a kind. Small differences in surface, colour and edge are part of how the material records the plant.
22 × 22 x 1.5 cm. It is intended to be wall-mounted, and it hangs from a nail or screw so that it sits flush with the wall, but you can also stand it on a tabletop easel.
This panel comes in a presentation box. The outer postal packaging is generally repurposed.
Care. Dust with a soft dry brush rather than a damp cloth, and no household cleaners. Plaster is for indoor use only.
